In Portugal’s 2-0 victory over Iceland, Bruno Fernandes’ halftime tunnel discussion elicited a humorous response from Cristiano Ronaldo and Bernardo Silva.
On Sunday night, Roberto Martinez’s team easily won, making it ten wins from ten games in their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
Even though the national team was impressive on the field, their halftime show stole the show when the game was over.

Al-Nassr forward Ronaldo smirked as he turned away from the conversation
As they prepared to leave for the second half of the game, United captain Fernandes seemed to be having a team meeting in the tunnel.
In a later X clip, Ronaldo and Silva are seen listening to the chat before turning to one another and grinning.
With a grin on his face, Al-Nassr forward Ronaldo turned away from the discussion and sat down to get ready for the second half.
Thanks to a goal by Fernandes in the first half, Portugal was ahead by one goal at that moment. In the second half, Ricardo Horta doubled their lead.
With a ‘perfect’ qualification campaign—winning ten of their ten games—Martinez’s team created history with the outcome.
Ronaldo, Fernandes’ former United teammate, is the second-highest goal scorer in the qualifiers with ten goals, only surpassed by Romelu Lukaku of Belgium.
After vehemently disputing assertions made by former Sporting Lisbon school standout Fabio Paim, the 38-year-old made headlines recently.
In the 2000s, Paim was considered one of Portugal’s greatest prospects; according to some accounts, even Ronaldo thought Paim was the most talented young player of his generation.
Despite having six loan spells away from the club, including one at Chelsea where he never played in a competitive game, Paim was unable to live up to his potential and never made a senior appearance for Sporting.
Paim claimed in an interview with PT Clipes podcast that he should have received at least one of Ronaldo’s five Ballon d’Or awards and that, “if he had half of Cristiano’s brain,” he could have competed with Lionel Messi and the Portuguese legend.
Portugal maintained a perfect record throughout their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign
Ronaldo responded to the video with a harsh remark, writing on Instagram, “Wtf???” Who is this man?
In spite of several accounts suggesting that, following his 2003 transfer to Manchester United, Ronaldo remarked, “If you think I’m good, wait until you see Fabio Paim,” his response was made.
‘Cristiano Ronaldo should offer me one of his Ballon d’Ors,’ Paim stated on the program. I grew up at Sporting, having attended when I was seven years old.
“Those were years of glory, winning everything I could muster.” Though I fell short of my potential, I did leave my mark on a generation. People remember me because I marked them, if they do.
“I expressed my happiness when I believed Cristiano Ronaldo could present me with a Ballon d’Or.” However, it was done with humility. It wouldn’t be Cristiano and Messi if I had half of his head.
