The Manchester team plans a major purge with 10 players who will have to leave Old Trafford in the two transfer windows of 2024.
After a difficult start to the 2023/24 season, coach Ten Hag aims to completely overhaul the Red Devils squad, amid the arrival of new shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Last summer, MU said goodbye to David de Gea, Anthony Elanga, Dean Henderson and Fred. However, the Dutch strategist is looking forward to making more big changes in the squad.
Manchester Evening News said that in the next 12 months, Ten Hag plans to eliminate at least 10 more players with the help and support of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The long list of names about to leave includes Jonny Evans, who has turned 36 and whose contract will expire in June 2024.
Raphael Varane is another midfielder who could be sold because he has lost form and is receiving a high salary compared to the average at Old Trafford.
Although Lisandro Martinez recently took a break from ιnjury, coach Ten Hag preferred to choose Maguire, Lindelof or Evans as a central defender rather than Varane.
Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka’s contracts expire next year. To date, MU has not made any specific moves to retain the above two defenders.
M.E.N also revealed that Ten Hag will refresh the midfield when Casemiro and Eriksen have both turned 30.
Martial’s future is a big question mark when the contract between him and the club ends next summer. Most likely, MU will let the French striker leave on a free transfer.
Tom Heaton and Hannibal Mejbri also enter the final year of their contracts with the Red Devils. The young midfielder of Tunisian origin is considered to continue signing, but in case Heaton will have to find a new destination.
