Real Madrid keen on 26-year-old Arsenal mainstay with €75 million market value

Gabriel Jesus, a 26-year-old Brazilian international, is reportedly interested in joining La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid from Arsenal.

Gabriel Jesus’s journey to England almost seven years ago has been a wild rollercoaster. The Brazilian international has not been very productive in the Premier League, despite being a highly regarded striker when he played for Palmeiras. That did not deter Arsenal from spending more than €50 million to get him prior to the 2022–2023 campaign.

Jesus had a strong debut season with Arsenal and a successful 2022–2023 campaign overall. However, he has persisted in his ineffective ways and has not been a reliable goal scorer. This season has proven to be no different, as the 26-year-old has only managed four goals and one assist in his 11 outings so far.

Jesus recently declared that he is not a “strong point” at scoring goals, which drew criticism from supporters and commentators. However, the former Manchester City striker is still well-liked by potential suitors despite his glaring flaws. His market value has increased to €75 million in the interim. Furthermore, Real Madrid is showing interest in him.

Before Jesus joined Arsenal, Real Madrid expressed interest in him, and Carlo Ancelotti was one of his admirers. However, no deal came through; instead, the Gunners grabbed him from Manchester City. Despite his lack of production in the final third, Real Madrid is still interested in the 26-year-old.

This past summer, Karim Benzema left Real Madrid for Al-Ittihad without signing a successor. Therefore, even if the striker is not clinical and prolific, they still need to invest in him. Furthermore, because Kylian Mbappe is apparently no longer on their radar, the Merengues must find other options.

Thus, Gabriel Jesus has become Real Madrid’s goal. It will be difficult to sign the 26-year-old Arsenal veteran, though, given his significance to Mikel Arteta’s intentions. Therefore, it will be interesting to watch if a move happens the following year.
