NBA live watchers were divided on whether LaMelo Ball’s ‘crαzy’ maneuver

NBA live watchers were divided on whether LaMelo Ball’s ‘crazy’ maneuver, in which he dropped Jrue Holiday during the Hornets vs. Celtics game, was foul or not.

On Monday, the 22-year-old All-Star guard for the Charlotte Hornets benched Jrue Holiday, a defensive specialist for the Boston Celtics, and NBA fans took to social media to wonder why and how this happened.

Holiday stopped Ball from driving at Miles Bridges late in overtime as the Hornets were down 111–110.

The Hornets took a 112-111 lead as Holiday sprinted into the screen, fell to the floor, and then drove to the hoop for a layup as Ball slung the ball behind his back as he neared the pick.

On the other hand, many NBA fans took to X (previously Twitter) to аrgue that Ball should have been called for an оffensive foul because he pushed off the defender.

Someone remarked: “But he pushed off, and Jrue tripped on LaMelo’s shoe…”

“Unfortunately, shoved off,” says another.

“Push and a trip,” a third person said. Worst case scenario.

“Lamelo Ball pushed Jrue Holiday down,” read a fourth. I can see now.

The decision was right, according to some supporters, who called Ball’s move “insаne.”

“Lamelo is an All-Star,” this supporter tweeted. Please, find him a helping hand.

My second opinion is that LaMelo is fantastic. The Kid is incredibly gifted.

And a third: “On the court, Jrue Holiday was left in awe by LaMelo Ball’s nimble move!” Caught him by the ankles!

Despite having a great player in Ball—who has averaged 25.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game through 13 games—the Hornets have struggled to get off to a good start, going 4-9.
