Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi are said to have discussed Messi’s 2020 move to Manchester City.

A year before his contract with Barcelona was about to expire, the Argentine icon met with him.

Messi’s contract eventually expired, and he signed with PSG, while talks about moving to the Premier League were held beforehand.

The assertions were made in a recent book titled “God Save Pep” by Marti Perarnau, who was previously granted behind-the-scenes access to write about Guardiola.

According to reports, Messi contacted his pal Sergio Aguero, inquiring as to the manager’s anticipated length of time at Man City.

The World Cup champion allegedly got in touch with his former boss as a result, and they arranged a meeting at his Barcelona home.

Messi was apprised of the rigorous training regimen at City and forewarned about the wet British weather.

According to the book, Guardiola stated: “I have lengthy tactical talks, and we practice very hard in Manchester. Perhaps you’ll grow bored.”

Messi apparently begged to join the team, saying, “I will train hard; I’m not worried.” Despite this, he was still eager to join. I’ll tolerate everything you do.

Even so, it was insufficient to persuade the Spaniards to agree to a reunion.

Evidently, Guardiola answered, “Leo, we’ve gotten older. Perhaps we’ve had enough of one another.”

Messi only spent two seasons with PSG before leaving to sign with Inter Miami in July.
