Bruce Willis sold nearly $65M of property as his health declined

According to friends, Bruce Willis has been selling up all of his valuable real estate in New York and beyond for some time in order to prepare for his impending health decline.

“Plus he knew that he wouldn’t eventually need multiple estates and apartments to travel between, and that he would instead need to live in a safe environment surrounded by his family.

“Looking at how he has sold off most of his properties in recent years, it is clear that he has been preparing to downsize and simplify his life for a number of years.”

In December 2019, Willis and wife Emma Heming sold their Westchester, N.Y., estate for $7.66 million after slashing the asking price by $5.3 million. The couple took a $4.34 million loss on the home having bought it for $12 million in 2014. The 9,000-square-foot home has five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, sitting on a lot of 13.56 acres.

“We have decided to return to the West Coast and make our home there, and the only reason we are giving it up is because we are so far from our California family,” Willis stated at the time. Subsequently, he gave $9.8 million to purchase a new home in Brentwood, California.

When Willis’ magnificent 6,000 square foot, six-bedroom Central Park West duplex sold for $17.75 million in 2018, the actor announced that he was moving down to a smaller apartment in New York City. For almost $7.9 million, he purchased a 3,000-square-foot condo close to Lincoln Center.

Willis sold his $5.5 million mountain home in Sun Valley, Idaho, in October 2018. His first request was for $15 million, over three times the amount that was sold for, but it was still a record for the region.

And for an astounding $27 million, Willis and Heming sold their stunning, expansive Turks and Caicos estate in 2019.

The 13,500-square-foot oceanfront home included two guest casitas, each with three bedrooms, a large pool, a yoga pavilion, and a five-bedroom main house. The asking price was $33 million.

Willis additionally sold a piece of land on the well-liked island of Parrot Cay in Turks & Caicos for $6 million in 2021.
