The Boston Celtics have gotten off to a great start this season, thanks in large part to the play of explosive forward Jayson Tatum, who has been able to score goals despite facing tough defenses.
On Friday night, TD Garden in Boston was supposed to host a basketball extravaganza as the 12-6 Philadelphia 76ers made their way to town. Before Tatum’s ejection in the dying seconds of the third quarter, everything was going according to plan.
Jayson Tatum’s second ejection in his career
In the moments leading up to his second technical foul, Tatum was ensnared by two opposing defenders, lost possession of the ball, and (ostentatiously) elbowed Robert Covington in the face. While officials investigated the play for signs of hostility, Tatum persisted in arguing with them and was eventually given his walking papers.
In 27 minutes of play, Tatum had 21 points, seven boards, and four assists, indicating that he was having a great game. The night came to a close in the locker room as he was ejected for the second time in his career.
During a cоnfrоntatiоn with a Madison Square Garden referee in February of this year, Tatum was ejected for the first time in his career. Tatum was certain that the New York Knicks fouled him on a three-point shot while Boston was down 11 points.
Even though the Sixers were missing Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, the Celtics still managed to pull off the victory on Friday night. Remaining the top seed in the Eastern Conference, Boston improved to 15-4.
