Bronny James ‘eyes USC’s game on Sunday against Long Beach State to make his debut’ as dad LeBron is likely to be on hand to see his son play for Trojans

Freshman guard Bronny James of USC is expected to play in his first game for the Trojans on Sunday against Long Beach State, only days after doctors gave him the all-clear after his cardiac arrest.

According to Seth Davis, a veteran college basketball reporter, LeBron James’s eldest kid could make his debut as early as December 10. While Davis did warn that USC coach Randy Enfield has not yet announced a return date for Bronny, he did so in article for The Messenger.

The 6-foot-4 freshman had a curable congenital heart condition; he had a cardiac collapse in July while exercising at Galen Center.

When Bronny, who is 19 years old, makes his Trojans debut, LeBron plans to be in the stands. According to reports, the legendary Los Angeles Lakers player might even forego one of his own games to attend Bronny’s debut game for USC.

At last week’s Oklahoma City event, LeBron James emphasized the importance of family above all else. “As soon as Bronny is cleared to play, I will make sure to watch his first game.”

Before the USC game, Bronny James was at the layup line.

While USC was in Las Vegas on Saturday to play No. 11 Gonzaga, Bronny gave Trojan fans a taste of what he can bring to the table by participating in warmups.

At one point during warmups, he made seven straight 3-pointers and seemed cheerful and energetic as he danced on the bench with assistant coach Kurt Karis.

‘He seemed unafraid,’ The Messenger was told by ESPN commentator and former Duke standout Jay Williams. His method of operation was quite labor-intensive. It was clear he’s spent time with experts.

“I wаnted to know where he thought he could use some work,” I said. He acknowledged the need for improvement and promised to work on tightening his grip with practice. Confidence was nonexistent. There was complete faith in his ability to resolve the issue.

When Bronny got to his feet and dunked the ball with one hand, it energised the audience. Furthermore, he reaffirmed his approach to his collegiate debut.

According to a family representative, James is scheduled to meet with USC staff for a final evaluation before returning to practice. His ability to participate in games will be determined’soon after,’ according to the statement.

James sat at the far end of the bench, wearing gray USC sweatshirts, as the squad re-entered the floor to begin the game. He stood at the rear of the Trojans’ huddle during timeouts and cheered them on.

The Trojans will play their next home game on December 10 against Long Beach State. The Lakers will have a six-day vacation before playing three games in Texas, while USC will play four games on the road.

Despite having guard Isaiah Collier, one of the best recruits in college basketball, the Trojans have had a rough start to the 2023–24 season, losing to Gonzaga, Oklahoma, and a dismal UC Irvine.

Despite their wins against Kansas State and Seton Hall, the Trojans still have two more games against nationally ranked Arizona and their crosstown rival, UCLA.
