Behind the glory: Ronaldo used to eat the burgers that others had left behind

In a nostalgic revelation, it has been unveiled that football icons Cristiano Ronaldo and his former Sporting academy teammate Fabio Paim used to indulge in late-night McDonald’s burger runs during their shared days at Sporting.

Before Ronaldo’s dominance in Euro 2004, the two friends took a holiday together, not shying away from their love for fast food. Paim reminisced about their camaraderie, stating, “We used to go to McDonald’s at night to pick up the burgers that were no longer suitable for sale.”

While their paths diverged professionally, with Ronaldo becoming a global football phenomenon, Paim still holds fond memories of their time together. The duo, separated by a three-year age gap, remained close both on and off the field during their youth.

Despite their different approaches to health and fitness, the love for fast food and football skills bonded Ronaldo and Paim. Paim reflected on their shared experiences, saying, “Sporting was aware, yes. It’s not as it is now. We had permission to leave. We used to go to McDonald’s at night to pick up the burgers that were no longer suitable for sale.”

The pair, once inseparable pals, enjoyed vacations together, with one memorable trip to Brazil before Ronaldo’s participation in Euro 2004. Paim expressed, “Although I was too young to play, I trained with the national team.”
