Golden State Warriors: Gary Payton II will miss another week with a calf issue.
The Warriors announced that Gary Payton II will miss at least one week due to a strained right calf.
On Nov. 28, Payton, 31, left the Warriors’ game to the Sacramento Kings early after injuring his right leg on a screen. An MRI showed a strain with a week-to-week healing schedule.
Payton will miss the Warriors’ next road trip to Oklahoma City, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. Payton played his second game after three games out with an ankle sprain when he got injured.
The Warriors are going through a rotation merry-go-round to find the most effective lines to get them above.500. Despite the pressure, the team will miss Payton’s point-of-аttаck defense against the NBA’s best ball-handlers, notably the springy Thunder with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jaylin Williams.
In 14 games this season, Payton averages nearly six points, three rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 17.3 minutes.
