Real Madrid can re-sign the former defender for only €8M using President Perez’s classic enigma

This season, Miguel Gutierrez has advanced significantly at Girona. Remarkably, this 22-year-old left-back was a first-team player for Real Madrid Castilla before leaving Los Blancos in August 2022 to pursue regular first-team action.

As of right now, Real Madrid has talked about bringing the former star back, and Carlos Forjanes of AS has reported that they could do so for a not-too-high price.

Despite the fact that his release clause is for €40 million, the journalist writes that the team from the capital of Spain can sign him for just €8 million.

How is that even possible? The entire control over Gutierrez’s future was retained by Real Madrid even after he moved from Madrid to Girona.

Real Madrid maintained their resolve throughout the transfer and managed to obtain their preferential transfer strategy, which was akin to the Fran García agreement.

They decided to sell Gutierrez just half of his sports rights, which brought in between €4 and €5 million. They also made sure that there would be a fair buyback option.

The young full-back would only cost €8 million to transfer, should Real Madrid decide to reclaim him. But the release clause is much steeper for other clubs around the world—five times that amount, or €40 million.

It’s interesting to note that Girona must notify Madrid in advance of any possible activation of this clause.

A left-back is needed by Real Madrid.Real Madrid does not currently own a left-back because Garcia has not yet won Carlo Ancelotti over, and the team wants to sell Ferland Mendy in order to maximize his potential revenue.

Alphonso Davies, the full-back for Bayern Munich and Madrid, is interested in both teams in the interim, and they are both keeping a close eye on each other.

It is important to remember, though, that if the team chooses to look into other options, more than one left-back may arrive in the summer of 2019.
