CINCINNATI — As their 5-year-old daughter undergoes leukemia treatment, Reds outfielder Jake Fraley and his spouse are requesting prayers.

Due to the nature of Angelica Fraley’s work, a large number of people follow the family’s journey, therefore the family decided to make Avery’s cancer diagnosis public. The announcement was made on Instagram on Sunday.

“If Jake’s job didn’t make part of our lives public we’d probably keep this off social media but given our family is always running around stadiums and so many of you follow along, we wanted to get this over with before we get into the new year,” Angelica Fraley stated.

Their daughter is “doing well,” according to Angelica’s statement, which also mentions that the family has “the best support system and team of doctors” in Cincinnati as well as Miami, where they spend the offseason. When the family returns to the Tri-State for the 2024 season, Angelica said their daughter “won’t really have to be away from her dad” because she would be able to complete her therapy there.

“If you know Avery, you know she’s as tough as they come, she is SO smart and understands most of what is going on, she knows Jesus sustains her and the rough part of her treatment will be over soon,” Angelica stated.

Asserting that the famiy’s faith in prayer is real, she stated they beg people to “(speak) life and health into our family’s life.”

In 2022, Fraley moved from Seattle to Cincinnati. Last season, he participated in 111 games and concluded the campaign with 15 home runs, 65 RBI, and 21 stolen bases.
