Celtics hoping to capture Heat ‘magic’ with latest roster move
It was announced earlier this week that the Boston Celtics had cut center Nathan Knight, who had been on a two-way contract. This was an unusual personnel move. Knight had some experience playing in the NBA. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics filled the open two-way contract with rookie wing Drew Peterson in a subsequent roster move. The Boston Sports Journal’s John Karalis elaborated by stating that the Celtics are trying to take advantage of the’magic’ of the Miami Heat’s scouting department, since the Heat were interested in Peterson despite his inclusion on the Heat’s final roster cut this season.
According to ESPN’s sources, the Boston Celtics are seriously considering signing free agency forward Drew Peterson to a two-way contract. The G League’s Sioux Falls have been his teammates recently.

After signing, cutting, and being sent to the G League, Drew Peterson was Miami’s exhibit 10 player. Apparently, the Miami coaching staff was really bullish on his prospects. With Peterson, the Celtics may be able to replicate Miami’s evaluation success.

Due to the terms of his two-way deal, Celtics forward Drew Peterson will play for the Maine Celtics in the G League for the most of the upcoming season. Peterson was a member of the Heat’s summer league and training camp.
Peterson had a two-point, five-rebound, and one-assist performance in his lone preseason game for the Heat. Peterson made six appearances between Sacramento and Las Vegas during the NBA Summer League. His field goal percentage was 44.4%, three-point percentage was 40.9%, and free throw percentage was 71.4%; he also averaged 2.8 boards and 2.3 assists a game.
Peterson suited up with the rice ricers for two years of collegiate basketball before transferring to the Trojans for three more. Peterson is a big man with a gift for passing the ball and a solid three-point shot.
