Let us tend to him: Bob Myers speaks candidly about Draymond Green’s permanent ban

In order to give Draymond Green all the time he needs to clean up his act and return to the court, former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers supports the NBA’s decision to suspend him indefinitely.

The league suspended the former NBA defensive player of the year early this week due to a string of erratic on-court actions that included Green punching Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face during their 119-116 loss on Tuesday.

The NBA took the incident seriously and voiced worry about the All-Star forward’s apparent “violent” playstyle in recent games.

With the statement that he would “be required to meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play,” it decided to suspend the 12-year-old player immediately and indefinitely.

Myers, who currently works as a game analyst for ESPN, was questioned about his opinion on his former player’s ban during the Friday night coverage of the Suns vs. Knicks game.

He said that the best course of action to completely resolve the concerns regarding the conduct of the four-time NBA champion was to ban Green indefinitely:

“I appreciate that the NBA as a whole endorsed the idea that we should examine the individual. Fans of the NBA occasionally forget that these guys are also human. Individuals are fallible.Furthermore, I adore that the NBA is not assigning a number to this punishment. Additionally, Draymond has more time to sаy, “Let’s take a look at this.” Let’s investigate the cause of this. And it seems to be the best approach. Saying indefinitely makes it possible for him, the Warriors, and all other parties to sаy, “Let’s take care of him.”

Draymond Green acknowledges that he might have gripped Rudy Gobert too tightly.

Draymond Green was also punished earlier this season for choking Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert, prior to the violent altercation with Jusuf Nurkic.

The Golden State All-Star then acknowledged that he might have gone too far with his actions, after first downplaying the situation.

During an interview with ESPN’s senior writer Ramona Shelburne, Draymond Green acknowledged that his treatment of Gobert might have been excessive.

“∂αми, I held him much longer than I realized in that moment,” I exclaimed after seeing it again.

On November 14, early in the first quarter of their teams’ game in San Francisco, Draymond Green and Gobert got into a ғɪɢʜᴛ. Following a midcourt push-and-shoot between Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels, the two became involved.

Gobert was one of the players who attempted to break them apart before Green jumped on him, placed him in a headlock, and dragged him off. Following that, Green, Thompson, and McDaniels were all kicked out.

The former Michigan State player received a five-game, non-pay suspension for his actions.
