Goals from Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson alleviated the pressure on Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino as they secured a crucial 2-0 victory against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge.
Despite a challenging first half where the Blades thwarted their opponents, Chelsea overcame their recent string of defeats in the second half, climbing to 10th in the Premier League.
Cole Palmer played a pivotal role, scoring one goal and assisting another, contributing to Chelsea’s second consecutive home win against the league’s bottom club, Sheffield United. Although the first half was lackluster, with The Blades effectively keeping the Blues at bay, Palmer seized control in the second half.
Nine minutes into the latter half, Palmer orchestrated a play for Raheem Sterling on the right, then swiftly entered the box to convert a close-range shot, opening the scoring. Seven minutes later, capitalizing on an error from Wes Foderingham, Palmer squared the ball for Nicholas Jackson to tap in the second goal, catching most defenders off guard.
Despite opportunities to further extend the lead, such as Armando Broja’s miss from two yards out after a skillful play by the former Manchester City forward, Chelsea secured the win, propelling them to the 10th position on the table, while Sheffield United remained stranded at the bottom.
