Amidst a 5-0 winning streak, Jayson Tatum offers an honest assessment of the Celtics, saying, ‘Not sure last year we would have won’

With Sunday’s victory over the Orlando Magic, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics extended their NBA-best record to 20-5. Boston now has 14 consecutive victories and is undefeated when playing at home. With 17 consecutive victories, only the 1957–58 Celtics had a better record to start the season.

Tatum was more impressed by the team’s ability to overcome obstacles and win games than by the streak itself. They just won two straight games against the Magic, who had beaten them once previously this season. Additionally, the Celtics have won eight of their last nine games.

Tatum responded to a question regarding the importance of their five-game winning run by saying:

“Our work this week was truly remarkable….” Last year, I’m not sure we would have come out on top in these games.
