Steph Curry, the star point guard for the Golden State Warriors, broke his record-setting 268-game run of making at least one 3-pointer on Sunday. The two-time MVP scored seven points and shot just 2 of 12 (16.7%) from the field, including 0 of 8 from deep, as Golden State вєαт the Trail Blazers 118–114.

Curry hadn’t missed a three-point shot in a regular season game since November 8, 2018, when the Warriors lost 134–111 to the Milwaukee Bucks. He scored 10 points in that game by making 5 of 14 shots (35.7%), but he missed all 4 of his three-point shots.

But Curry hasn’t made a 3 very often in the last five or so years. It happened a lot more often in the beginning of his career. In 15 years, the four-time NBA winner has played 40 regular season games and one playoff game without making a three-point shot.

Of those 40 games, 31 were played in Curry’s first four years as coach, from 2009–10 to 2012–13. He almost never goes without a make from deep since he 𝔥𝔦𝔱 his prime.

Curry’s only playoff game without a made three-pointer was Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals, which he played against the Boston Celtics. He scored 16 points, but only made 7 of 22 shots (31.8%) and 0 of 9 from beyond the arc as the Warriors won 104–94.

But because it was a playoff game, Curry’s run from the regular season didn’t change.

Steph Curry had a bad night on Saturday, but the Warriors were able to make up for it on Sunday by beating the failing Blazers.

Portland came back and cut the lead to two points (113–111) with 39 seconds left. Golden State had been ahead by 22 points at one point. After that, the Warriors held on for a four-point win. Their star shooting guard Klay Thompson scored 28 points and made five 3-pointers, hitting 68.8% for the game.

The Warriors won their second game in a row and are now trying to get back into the playoff picture in the Western Conference. The Blazers, on the other hand, have lost seven games in a row.

The Golden State Warriors (12-14) will play the Boston Celtics (20-5) at home on Tuesday.

The next game for Portland (6-19) is on Tuesday at home against the Phoenix Suns (14-12).
