NBA Trade Machine: Can the Los Angeles Lakers trade Austin Reaves in order to obtain Draymond Green?
Exploring the possibility of the LA Lakers trading Draymond Green to the Golden State Warriors for Austin Reaves
Two clubs that need to make roster changes are the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers. This season, both have had difficulty maintaining consistency. Both organizations have been the subject of trade rumors, but no real action has occurred.
If the two California teams worked on a trade, NBA Insider Bill Simmons believes they could both win. Austin Reaves and Draymond Green are the names Simmons has suggested.
This season, Green hasn’t provided the Warriors with much assistance. The four-time champion Һit Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the head, earning him his second suspension of the current season. Due to his indefinite suspension, only the league is aware of when he will be allowed to return.
Reaves hasn’t been consistent throughout the interim. Many anticipated that after agreeing to a four-year, $56 million contract with the Lakers, he would provide All-Star-caliber play. Unfortunately, his average of 15.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists indicates that hasn’t been the case. His efficiency has also decreased.
Reaves made 53% of his field goals last season, but he’s only making 47% so far this year. There has also been a decline in his three-point efficiency. His three-point percentage dropped from over 40% to 35%.
Austin Reaves is [trade target] of mine. For in the upcoming weeks, it is possible to make a deal involving Draymond Green and Austin Reaves. Let’s pretend the Lakers are about.500. Let’s assume they convince themselves of that. Does Golden State need to include [Moses] Moody in order for that to work? All I like is the trade. In theory, Draymond is not necessary for Golden State. “I believe they ought to trade him,” Simmons remarked.
Investigating a possible deal with the LA Lakers to obtain Green
Reaves cannot currently be traded by the LA Lakers. He re-signed with the team utilizing his Bird rights, receiving a 20% salary increase, therefore he cannot be transferred until January 15. The Lakers can trade for Green when the time is perfect, but they’ll need to part with more than just the guard that the fans adore.
They will also need to part with Gabe Vincent in order to make up for the defensive forward’s $22.3 million payroll this season. Reaves is expected to make $12 million this season, compared to Vincent’s $10.5 million.
Simmons proposed including Moses Moody in the trade package for the Warriors. The Lakers will need to add another player to the mix, even though financial constraints may prevent the move from taking place.
The two teams might be able to work things out with Jalen Hood-Schifino. Hood-Schifino is making less than $4 million this season, similar to Moody, which might help both teams financially.
