Goal has confirmed that Real Madrid will conclude all negotiations with Mbappe, including any future discussions, if the player does not sign a contract within the two-week timeframe. During the summer of 2022, Mbappe and Real Madrid had reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms, preparing for what would have been a blockbuster transfer. However, Mbappe ultimately had a change of heart, leaving Real Madrid disappointed. As a result, he was obliged to apologize to President Florentino Perez.
In the 2023 summer transfer window, Mbappe once again chose to remain at PSG for the final year of his contract before departing on a free transfer. Initially, PSG had removed his name from the squad, but due to poor results, the club had to reinstate Mbappe as a member of the main squad.
While the Ligue 1 champions are keen on retaining Mbappe, they have been unable to reach an agreement on a new contract. Mbappe has publicly acknowledged that PSG does not provide him with the platform to achieve his ambition of winning the Ballon d’Or.
