‘My Brother!’ Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito Have a Twins Reunion

.

Even after over 35 years, Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger remain “twins.”

On Friday, the 76-year-old Schwarzenegger posted a picture to Instagram of himself on the set of their Broadway play, I Need That, with his Twins costar Danny DeVito, 79, and DeVito’s daughter Lucy, 40.

“My sibling! In a caption for the image, Schwarzenegger said, “It was great to see Danny on Broadway in I Need That.” “One of the best plays I’ve ever seen, a real spectacle with heart, he and Lucy and all the cast kept the audience laughing and loving every minute! I’m eager to collaborate with you once more.”

In the buddy comedy Twins from 1988, which starred Schwarzenegger and DeVito as genetically altered fraternal twins split at birth, the two played famously against one other. According to Box Office Mojo, the picture was the fifth highest-grossing film of that year, having made $111 million at the US box office upon its debut.

The two are currently working on a sequel to the film called Tribes, but the project has been put on hold since Ivan Reitman, the film’s 75-year-old director, passed away in February 2022. Reitman was scheduled to make a cameo in the follow-up, in which the brothers would find out they are triplets.

Tracey Morgan was most recently believed to be poised to play the new role, and Eddie Murphy was supposedly attached to join the cast of the sequel. After Ivan Reitman’s death, Arnold Schwarzenegger provides an update on the production of “Triplets.”

The Twins sequel project was shelved, according to Schwarzenegger, who told The Hollywood Reporter in May that Reitman’s son Jason “literally stopped the project when his father died.”

The former governor of California and movie star stated at the time that he and DeVito were working on a different project, telling the publication that his co-star of two films—they had also worked with Ivan Reitman on Junior in 1994—is “so much fun to work with and so talented.”

In November, DeVito remarked that Schwarzenegger “should have done Twins 2 instead of becoming governor” when speaking with GQ about his role in the movie. The joke was directed towards the pair’s wish to collaborate once more. From 2003 to 2011, Schwarzenegger held the position of governor of California, at which time he took an acting break.Arnold Schwarzenegger, according to Danny DeVito, has animals that “just roam around all over the place.”

Schwarzenegger and DeVito “have a little thing going, a little project that we’ve been chatting about,” according to hints made by the actor. “No, it’s just two friends, two guys,” he said when asked if it had anything to do with the Twins.

“Because we enjoy spending time together.” In many aspects, we are complementary to one another. “I am way stronger than he is,” DeVito continued.

According to the production’s website, I Need That, which stars DeVito and his daughter Lucy, whom he shares with wife Rhea Pearlman, will have its last showing at Todd Haimes Theatre in New York City on Saturday.
