Manchester United Eyeing Girona Left-Back Miguel Gutierrez

According to the Sun, Manchester United is showing interest in signing Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez this month following the conclusion of Tottenham Hotspur’s loan deal for Sergio Reguilon.

The 22-year-old Gutierrez has been a regular fixture for Girona, who currently share the top spot in La Liga. In 18 league games this season, he has contributed with a goal and an assist.

Manchester United has had one of their scouts closely monitoring Gutierrez in recent weeks. The young defender impressed in Girona’s recent 4-3 victory against Atletico Madrid and their 4-2 triumph over Barcelona last month, where he also scored a goal.

Gutierrez’s football intelligence and attacking qualities, honed during his time in the Real Madrid academy, have caught the attention of Manchester United. However, his former club still holds 50% of his rights and included a sell-on clause when he moved to Girona in 2022, meaning they have a say in his future.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping an eye on Gutierrez, with the latter having a £10.5 million offer rejected last summer. While Gutierrez’s contract with Girona runs until June 2027, a bid of around £22 million could be sufficient for Manchester United or other potential suitors to secure his services.

Gutierrez is known for his accurate crossing, strong passing ability, and skillful dribbling that allows him to bypass opponents, as demonstrated against Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. However, a mid-season move to Manchester United seems unlikely, especially considering Girona’s current challenge for the La Liga title.
