The Los Angeles Lakers’ point guard D’Angelo Russell is supposedly not very sought-after by NBA teams looking to trade for him.
If one were to consider possible trade situations, such as re-signing D’Angelo Russell to a theoretical, tradable contract of $20 million, Jake Fischer would have to sаy that he hasn’t heard or seen much interest in that trade chip returning from league contacts. “The Lakers’ ability to improve their team is severely limited unless they trade Austin Reaves, which they obviously do not want to do.”
After Russell averaged 17.4 points and 6.1 assists per game in 17 appearances (all starts) with Los Angeles during the 2022-23 regular season, the Lakers agreed a two-year contract deal with him in the 2023 offseason.
In his fourth year with the Lakers, Russell has shot 46.6% from the field and 38.8% from outside the arc, good for an average of 14.8 points, 2.9 boards, and 6.1 assists per game.
The Lakers’ loss to the Timberwolves on December 30 left Russell with a broken tailbone, and he has now missed three games. Despite going 1-for-4 from the field in his 20 minutes of playing time against the Timberwolves, he managed to rack up five points and three assists.
In a previous encounter on December 21st, against his previous club, the Timberwolves, the 27-year-old had what was likely his finest effort of the previous several weeks. To begin, in 38 minutes of play, he had a strong оffensive performance, finishing with 17 points, eight assists, and only four mistakes.
Even though the Lakers lost by seven points, Russell had a significant impact on defense with two steals and three blocks.
Due to Russell’s absence from the lineup due to his tailbone ιnjury, the Lakers have not yet achieved a victory. After a 20-point loss to the Pelicans on New Year’s Eve, a 14-point loss to the Heat on January 3, and a 14-point loss to the Grizzlies on January 5, Los Angeles fell to a losing record.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently 11th in the Western Conference after their most recent loss against the Memphis Grizzlies. They are 1.5 games behind the Phoenix Suns for the eighth spot in the conference.
Fortunately, Russell may soon be back on the court for the Lakers. On Sunday night, when the Lakers host the Clippers, he will most likely suit up.
