Lionel Messi to Grace Travis Kelce’s Home Turf as Sporting Kansas City Relocates MLS Fixture vs Inter Miami to Arrowhead Stadium, Catering to Massive Demand for the Argentine Superstar

The Major League Soccer match between Sporting Kansas City and Inter Miami will now take place at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs, as the team rides high on the tails of Lionel Messi’s recent success.

Sporting KC’s home field, Children’s Mercy Park, can accommodate a little over 18,000 spectators. At Arrowhead Stadium, home of Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, there are more over 76,000 seats available.

Most Major League Soccer teams are based in a city with a larger stadium that might be utilized for a home match versus Inter Miami and Lionel Messi.

The only one without that possibility, the Portland Timbers, isn’t currently a 2024 road fixture for Inter Miami.

On January 16, at noon, tickets for the game will go on sale. The starting price is $65.

Both the 2026 World Cup and the Copa America this summer will be held in Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium.

Additionally, it is Messi’s first professional organization-sanctioned game in the Midwest. He has participated in a Chicago charity match in the past.

“Since Major League Soccer released our schedule less than three weeks ago, this match has generated an unprecedented amount of interest,” stated Jake Reid, president and CEO of Sporting Kansas City.

To accommodate the Messi frenzy, no other team has moved to a larger location as of yet. It is difficult to accept, though, that Sporting Kansas City will be the last.

The calendar for Inter Miami includes six MLS venues with capacities comparable to Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chicago Fire and Chicago Bears share Solider Field, the New England Revolution plays at Gillette Stadium, and the New York City FC plays at Yankee Stadium.

Charlotte FC, Atlanta United, and Vancouver Whitecaps all have capacity crowds of well over 50,000 at their respective stadiums.
