Lakers’ Likely Major Coaching Shakeup Outlined By NBA Insider

Josh Huestis, a former Thunder forward and current podcast host for The Athletic, claims that the Lakers are about to undergo a much-needed roster shakeup.

Huestis projected that assistant coach Phil Handy would replace Lakers coach Darvin Ham at some point this season during a recent episode of The Athletic NBA Show.

“I believe Darvin Ham has had enough,” Huestis stated. It doesn’t matter if we win or lose (against the Clippers). That victory only delayed the inevitable.

Part two of my controversial opinion is that I think Phil Handy will be named temporary head coach. In terms of having a man who is revered by everyone in that locker room, Phil Handy is it. Who does LeBron collaborate with when he’s not playing? Just who is Austin Reaves’s coworker? In the offseason, everyone pitches in to help him out.

I believe they would all listen to and follow him because he is well-respected. I believe you designated Phil Handy as temporary head coach, but I assume that’s just a title. The Cavaliers are in need of a bench warmer, a new head coach, and LeBron will be in charge of strategy moving forward.

This forecast is in continuation of an illuminating piece that Shams Charania and Jovan Buha wrote, citing six individuals who assert that the Lakers’ allegedly have a “deepening disconnect between Darvin Ham and the locker room,” partly as a result of puzzling lineup adjustments.

A lot of people within the Lakers organization are saying that Darvin Ham isn’t the ideal coach, according to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer.
