A traditional football sneaker for the player deemed the greatest of all time, or G.O.A.T. It makes sense.

Alleged images of Lionel Messi’s Samba surfaced online lately, thanks to a sneaker source, and they showed an amazingly straightforward interpretation of the narrow shoe.

The characteristic gum sole of Messi’s Samba is paired with an off-white suede toe box and classic white leather.

The Three Stripes and heel tab of the Lionel Messi x adidas Samba are adorned with purple leather. It’s important to note that Argentina, led by Messi on the national squad, ditched purple away uniforms in 2022 to draw attention to gender equality. Wearing the color associated with women’s equal rights was a first for a national team in history.

The tongue is adorned with Messi’s iconic emblem in vivid yellow. Based on the illumination emanating from the interior of the sneaker, it appears that the Samba’s insole is dressed in the same vivid neon tint.

Messi adopting a very direct stance while sporting his Samba sneakers is not shocking. His personal collection consists of basic adidas sneakers and fancy sneakers with muted colors.

But hey, Messi won the World Cup and the Ballon D’Or seven times. What he wears is up to him.

 

 

 

 

Messi began working with adidas in 2006, and in 2017 the German sportswear company signed a lifetime deal with him. By the way, the two have been friends for eighteen years as of 2024.

There have been Messi-led advertisements and even joint football cleats (boots) over their long partnership. adidas released an Inter Miami x adidas Spezial in 2023 to capitalize on the excitement surrounding Messi’s sensational debut season with the soccer team.

Neither Messi nor adidas have disclosed the Samba collaboration’s release details. But if these pairs turn out to be real, I have a suspicion that Messi supporters would snatch them up as soon as they go on sale.

As consumers look for the “next Samba,” the adidas sneaker continues to be a great example. 2023 was yet another fantastic year for the sneaker with to timeless hues and notable collaborations with Wales Bonner and Kith.

With JJJJound and Hello Kitty on the list for their own Samba spins, 2024 is already looking like another promising year for the well-known sneaker. Oh, and let’s not overlook the G.O.A.T. Messi either.
