In the presence of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Wayne Rooney, Manchester United’s attackers finally showcased their talents against Tottenham on Sunday. However, the midfielders struggled to control the game, allowing the visitors to stage two comebacks in an entertaining yet disappointing 2-2 draw.
Rasmus Hojlund made a remarkable impact with his powerful early strike, but a lapse in marking from a corner allowed Richarlison to equalize. Hojlund and Marcus Rashford combined effectively, with the England striker scoring his first goal at Old Trafford this season. However, United’s efforts were quickly undone as the midfield and defense made it too easy for Timo Werner to find Rodrigo Bentancur, who calmly scored.
Here are the player ratings:
Andre Onana (6/10):He displayed good positioning and couldn’t be faulted for either goal. He showed caution when in possession.
Diogo Dalot (7/10):Excellent defensively, winning almost every tackle. He had the upper hand against Udogie and Werner.
Raphael Varane (6/10):He should have commanded the area better during Richarlison’s goal.
Jonny Evans (5/10):Made an important early clearance but struggled aerially against Richarlison and was easily beaten by Bentancur for the second goal.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (6/10):Deployed as a left-back to support Dalot, he adapted well and demonstrated his usual anticipation and positional awareness.
Christian Eriksen (5/10):Had limited involvement in the game and was substituted in the 58th minute.
Kobbie Mainoo (5/10):Couldn’t replicate his dominant performance against Wigan, misplacing a few passes and failing to influence the game. It’s not surprising for a player of his age and experience to have occasional drop-offs.
Bruno Fernandes (6/10):Contributed to both goals with incisive passes in the first half, but his influence waned in the second half.
Alejandro Garnacho (7/10):Initiated the move for the first goal and consistently posed a threat down the right flank. He also worked hard off the ball.
Rasmus Hojlund (8/10):Delivered his best performance in the Premier League. His thunderous strike nearly shattered the net. He displayed good chemistry with Rashford for the second goal and played inviting passes during counterattacks.
Marcus Rashford (7/10):Finished well to score his first goal at Old Trafford in eight months and constantly troubled the Spurs defense. However, he was let down by his final touch on multiple occasions.
