Suarez, 36, signed with Inter Miami late last year and became the fourth former Barcelona player to join the team. Messi started this trend last summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer before Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets followed mid-season.
This quartet were all teammates at the Catalan club for 6 years. Together, they won the Copa del Rey and La Liga four times and one Champions League in the 2014/15 season, thereby completing the second treble in the club’s history.
But by 2020, Suarez was no longer used under coach Ronald Koeman and left to join Atletico Madrid. A year later, Messi also moved to PSG.
Most recently, Suarez said: “In 2019, we imagined we would win everything in Barcelona and dreamed of retiring there. First, I left, and then everyone [Alba, Busquets and Messi] both stayed.
Everyone has their own life and family. They talked to me very well. They are very happy.
It’s nice to remember the wonderful moments we lived together at the club we all dreamed of, Barcelona. Now I get to see them again.”
