Multiple Celtics Troll Payton Pritchard on Instagram
Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard endorsed the “Jackpocket” app—which sells digital lottery tickets—on January 16. While providing the following caption, Pritchard marketed the company.
For nothing, you can try your luck at Mega Milliоns… Get your first lotto ticket for free when you apply the code ‘PAYTON’ at checkout on the @Jackpocket lottery app. Please see the link in my bio. Best of luck! Writing was done by Pritchard.
Several Celtics then proceeded to use the comment area as a platform to taunt Pritchard. Kristaps Porzingis used a laughing emoji to characterize Pritchard’s promotion a “big scаm.” A “real scammer” was what Oshae Brissett referred to Pritchard as. On the November 27 broadcast of the Toronto Raptors’ game against the Boston Celtics, famed rapper Drake allegedly said that Pritchard was “out there looking like a crypto scammer.” This was the punchline to the jokes.
Even while Pritchard wasn’t an advocate of cryptocurrencies per such, he did tout a software that targets those who are looking to generate income. Cryptocurrency and the lottery are not identical, but they are relatively similar, which enhances the humor.
The fact that the Celtics were able to roast Pritchard demonstrates how close-knit the team is.
The Reaction of Payton Pritchard to Drake
In regards to Drake’s accusation that Pritchard was a “crypto scammer,” reporters questioned him. Pritchard responded honestly, but he seemed perplexed.
“How can one spot a crypto scammer?” Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reports that Pritchard questioned reporters. “I am completely confused. It seems like a typical white person, thus I’d describe myself as a typical white guy: average height, average appearance. That being the case, I’m not sure what he meant, but it makes sense in the context of the NBA.
Ultimately, Pritchard played it cool since he knew Drake was just being humorous.
“He’s merely attempting to lighten the mood,” Pritchard added. “It’s amusing, really. I will not let it hurt my feelings. It’s not a big deal.
“Crypto scammer” was the caption for a photo album that Pritchard uploaded to Instagram that very day.
Pritchard clearly still can’t seem to shake that moniker, and it’s looking like it might be a while before it finally gives out.
The Honesty of Payton Pritchard Regarding “Garbage Time”
On January 13, the Boston Celtics defeated the Houston Rockets by a score of 145 to 113. Payton Pritchard played all the way to the final buzzer since the game was already decided before the fourth quarter even began. During that period, he displayed some impressive skills, including as completing an alley-oop to Oshae Brissett while dangling over the backboard.
A popular expression for when time is running out in a game is “garbage time.” Pritchard elaborated on his perspective during the postgame press conference.
“I never consider it as wasted time. It’s a chance for me to shoot hoops. That is my time as I will not be there throughout the first two quarters. It doesn’t seem that way to me. In the end, I don’t think anybody can deny that they’re an NBA fan. As reported by Noa Dalzell’s X account, Pritchard informed reporters that they were witnessing elite-level basketball.
In favor of Dennis Schröder and Malcolm Brogdon, the Celtics benched Pritchard for the past two seasons. At that period, Pritchard would only suit up for games when the Celtics were severely shorthanded or when the outcome was already determined. As a result, Pritchard has obviously figured out that playing is fun whenever it is.
