The next Sancho? Another player were given private training by Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag asked Anthony Martial to train alone. This player has not appeared in MU’s squad for more than a month.

Since starting when MU lost 0-3 to Bournemouth on December 9, Anthony Martial was left out by coach Erik ten Hag in 8 consecutive matches in all competitions. After the 2-2 draw with Tottenham on January 14, the former Ajax coach revealed that the French striker’s physical strength was not good enough.

According to Daily Mail, Ten Hag has not allowed Martial to practice with the team for a while. He is not satisfied with Martial and believes that the 28-year-old striker’s physical foundation is below standard.

It’s not uncommon for Ten Hag to force students to practice alone. Jadon Sancho was expelled from the team and was not allowed to join the first team due to lack of effort in training sessions. As a result, he was pushed to Dortmund on loan in the January 2024 transfer window.

Martial has only scored 12 goals in the Premier League in the past three and a half seasons, but still wants to stay and fight for his place. It is unclear why Martial is determined to stay at Old Trafford. Coach Ten Hag also did not have many options in attack, so he decided to keep the striker born in 1995. In fact, MU did not receive an offer to recruit Martial in recent times.

Martial’s contract will expire in the summer of 2024. According to The Athletic, the “Red Devils” decided not to activate the extension clause. His nine-year spell at Old Trafford could end at the end of this season. Martial only played explosively in a few matches. This player has never reached his full potential, is often injured and shows fluctuating performance.
