Reports suggest that Manchester United’s 22-year-old Uruguayan international, Facundo Pellistri, is set to embark on a loan spell with Spanish side Granada for the remainder of the season. Pellistri, who has found it challenging to secure playing time this season, typically enters matches during the closing stages.
Having joined Old Trafford four years ago, Pellistri has been on the bench as an unused substitute in United’s last three Premier League fixtures. With only three minutes of playtime in the recent FA Cup victory over Wigan, the Manchester Evening News indicates that a loan move to Granada is imminent.
In the current season, Pellistri has made 14 appearances for the Red Devils, featuring prominently against Bayern Munich and Crystal Palace in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, with game times of 81 and 90 minutes, respectively.
This loan move to Granada will mark Pellistri’s third stint in La Liga, following two separate loan spells with Alaves during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns. His previous experience includes 35 appearances for Alaves, and the upcoming loan to Granada is seen as another opportunity for valuable exposure in the Spanish top flight.
Pellistri follows in the footsteps of Alvaro Fernandez, another United player who was loaned to Granada earlier in the season but was recalled on January 14. Currently, Mason Greenwood is on loan at Getafe, and Hannibal Mejbri is with Sevilla in Spain. Greenwood, amid transfer speculation, has expressed his contentment at Getafe, where he continues to attract interest from clubs like Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
