Even though Austin Reaves had a bad game against the Brooklyn Nets at the Crypto.com Arena, supporters were still hoping for a comeback, particularly because they saw actress Olivia Rodrigo on the sidelines.
Reaves had a tough game, finishing with nine points and five assists in 27 minutes, but fans thought her presence, linked to Rodrigo, could bring luck to the team.
The Lakers got off to a good start, but the Nets mounted a comeback. Fans were hoping that Rodrigo’s presence would help the Lakers overcome the comeback, but Brooklyn ultimately prevailed 130–112.
Reaves will not be exchanged
The Lakers’ front staff is unwilling to include Reaves in trade talks, despite speculations involving him and guys like Dejounte Murray or Zach LaVine.
“Reaves isn’t technically untouchable, but he’s close,” joked Jovan Buha of The Athletic.
Team and league sources have stated that the Lakers do not intend to trade him due to his high worth.
For the next two years, he will be on a cost-controlled, team-friendly contract. According to those sources, the Lakers would have to get a certain type of player—someone who isn’t Murray or LaVine, for instance—or a number of enhancements to their rotation before they would even think about trading Reaves.
Averaging 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists this season, Reaves has started 18 of 43 games. Fans are hoping that Reaves, who was instrumental in the Lakers’ playoff run last year, can make a return as their team takes on Brooklyn.
