During the American Airlines Center road game against the Dallas Mavericks, Jaylen Brown played exceptionally well. In the second quarter, Brown had Mavs sensation Luka Doncic on the court, adding to his already stellar performance.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a fiercely competitive league, and home clubs will not waste any opportunity to embarrass (in a sportsmanlike way) or demoralize their opponents. The home team always introduces its players with a lot of fanfare, while the away team never does. In most cases, the other team will not even bother to rewatch the footage following a highlight play.
But it appears that someone in the replay center failed to remember that he was at the American Airlines Center and not the TD Garden, which is home to the Boston Celtics. On Monday, Brown used his ankle breaker to knock Doncic to the floor as Boston won 119-110.
It is unlikely that the ankle breakage would have been featured in the in-arena highlights because Brown was on the visiting team. But the Mavericks’ venue showed the clip again. In response to a reporter’s question regarding the incident, Brown stated:
“This place? Yeah, I totally missed that. I can’t believe it. If something was done by someone, they should be sacked.

Just 5 minutes and 35 seconds before halftime, Brown was dribbling toward the top of the key. In a one-on-one match that followed Payton Pritchard’s screen, Brown came across Luka. Brown set Doncic up in the high post after a few dribbles and then made a jump shot.
In the Celtics’ victory, Jaylen Brown scored 34 points while shooting 13 for 23 from the field.

Doncic was not bashful about praising Brown for the great play when questioned about it.

In the last minutes of the game, the Mavericks attempted to pile on Brown, and on a few occasions, they even matched up Doncic with the Celtics’ premier player. In response to a question regarding why the Mavs suited up the Slovenian star on him, Brown complimented Doncic’s defensive play.
Things like this do occur. Brown explained that the crossover is an integral aspect of basketball. He deserves credit for trying, in my opinion. Even in the second part, they persisted in attempting to place him on me rather than conceal him. Late in the game, he was able to get a couple of stops. Therefore, he deserves respect, but that’s just basketball. Get down to business.
In addition to his stellar performance, Doncic recorded his thirteenth triple-double of the season with 33 points, eighteen boards, and thirteen assists.
On the other hand, Doncic’s shooting performance was subpar; he was 12 for 30 and 2 for 8 from beyond the arc.
The standout player for the Celtics, Jayson Tatum, poured in 39 points.
