Once again, NBA All-Star Jayson Tatum has been named to the team

Jayson Tatum has started every NBA All-Star Game for the past four years in a row.

On Thursday, before Boston’s game against the Miami Heat, the Celtics star was named one of the ten starters for the upcoming All-Star Game. Tatum has now made the All-Star team five years in a row.

Tatum has solidified his place among the elite players in the NBA with an impressive scoring average of 27 points per game (ninth in the league) and a shooting percentage of 47% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc. Before Thursday’s game, he had averaged 8.4 boards and 4.4 assists. When it comes to NBA records, Boston has the greatest one at 34-10.

“You never want to take it for granted,” Tatum told TNT shortly after the announcement of the All-Star starters. To have the fans vote for me time and time again out of 450 guys in the league is an incredible honor. This is pretty awesome because I always wаnted to be a part of All-Star weekend when I was a kid. It fills me with joy and gratitude.

After leading Team Giannis to an All-Star game triumph in Utah last year with a record-setting 55 points, Tatum will have a tough act to follow this year as the Most Valuable Player. In the game, he made 22 of 31 field goals and 10 of 18 three-point attempts, while also grabbing nine rebounds and assisting on six assists.

Although he was an injured substitute in 2021 and 2022, Tatum did see action in both seasons. In 2022, he played 20 minutes for Team Durant and finished with 8 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. In 2021, he played just 17 minutes for Team Durant but still managed to score 21 points and send out seven assists.

In his first year as an All-Star, Tatum played 13 minutes for Team LeBron and contributed six points, three assists, and three steals. Tatum was left out of the team in his second NBA season (2018), but he still managed to win the Skills Challenge and be a part of the action.

We will find out in the next weeks whether Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown will be joining him as All-Star reserves. On Thursday, Brown was selected the fourth Eastern Conference starting forward, behind only Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo of Milwaukee and Joel Embiid of Philadelphia. East starting guards Tyrese Haliburton of Indiana and Damian Lillard of Milwaukee were also selected.

On February 18, Indianapolis will host the 73rd NBA All-Star game.
