Man United players argue in the win against the 4th division team

Lisandro Martinez and Altay Bayindir exchanged words on the pitch during the match against Newport in the 4th round of the FA Cup on the night of January 28th.

Less than 10 minutes into the game, Altay Bayindir and Lisandro Martinez exchanged words after a clumsy situation. From Diogo Dalot’s pass on the right wing, Bayindir mishandled the ball, and then immediately passed it to Martinez in a nearby position. The ball was crossed, but the Argentine defender still managed the situation.

Immediately after being troubled by Bayindir, Lisandro Martinez criticized his Turkish teammate. The MU goalkeeper did not hesitate to respond. After the moment of frustration with his teammate, Martinez made Bayindir retrieve the ball from the net when his attempted header deflected the ball into the far corner of the goal, narrowing the score to 1-2 for Newport in the 36th minute.

In his first start for MU this season, Bayindir conceded another goal in the 48th minute. Raphael Varane made a defensive error, creating an opportunity for Will Evans to advance from behind and score from a distance of less than 2 meters. Bayindir was not at fault, but conceding two goals against a 4th division opponent still affected his mentality to some extent. In the 90+9th minute, the Turkish international managed to demonstrate his ability by leaping to block James Waite’s dangerous long-range shot, helping MU secure a 4-2 victory.

The goals by Bruno Fernandes, Antony, Kobbie Mainoo, and Rasmus Hojlund propelled MU into the FA Cup round of 16. In the next match, the starting position is likely to be given to Andre Onana. The goalkeeper is preparing to return to England after the Cameroon national team was eliminated in the round of 16 of the CAN (African Cup of Nations).
