One of the top NBA players is Kevin Durant. And getting to the top requires constant work.
CEVIN DURANT: WHO IS HE?
American professional basketball player Kevin Wayne Durant’s (born September 29, 1988) team is the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA. He was named most valuable player (best player in the final series) in each of his NBA championship runs.
One of the NBA’s best shooters right now is KD. Among professional basketball players, he is among the greatest earners. Time magazine also listed him among 2018’s 100 most important individuals.
Kevin Durant’s Story
Childhood poverty
Many times I fell down, but I always got back up. My family and I suffered through the darkest hour, but I’m alive and well now.
The little community outside of Washington, where Kevin Durant was born, has an 80% poverty rate. No family is immune to this, including KD’s. Kevin Durant was a slim, lanky adolescent since his father abandoned the family when he was just a year old and because he went without food and clothes as a child. This is the reason why Kevin Durant’s body is in such good shape even now.
Raising her two sons was a struggle for the 21-year-old single mother. The work security of Kevin’s mother, Wanda Durant, is precarious, thus the family is constantly on the road. We slept on the floor because we didn’t have a bed or other furniture. “All three of us hugged each other to keep warm”—the absence of fatherly affection had an impact on Durant’s mother and son’s spiritual lives in addition to their worldly ones.
Growing up, Kevin was towering over his peers and devoted himself fully to the sport of basketball. After her son, who was then 10 years old, told Wanda, “I want to become an NBA player,” Wanda did all in her power to make his dream a reality. As an additional gesture, she penned the words “Always believe that anything can happen” and draped them over KD’s bed.
Kevin Durant won the NBA championship twice and was named MVP despite facing numerous challenges and never giving up. KD has consistently credited his mother as the sole cause of his success.
Wearing garment 35
“If he had passed away at the age of 47, I would have proceeded to wear shirt number 47.”
While most people see 35 as nothing more than a number, Kevin Durant sees it as a narrative.
Charles Craig was shot and killed in the early hours of April 30, 2005. Though he wasn’t physically there, 16-year-old Kevin Durant heard the whole thing unfold. For the simple reason that he counts Charles Craig as a spiritual father, basketball instructor, and mentor.
In honor of Charles Craig’s age when he passed away, Kevin Durant started donning the number 35 jersey thereafter. That is the way he expresses his gratitude to his dedicated instructor from the early years of riding the orange ball.
.
Working hard has paid off. Everything will vanish the moment I quit putting forth the effort.
To better himself, KD has been training relentlessly. Despite his several setbacks, he persisted. For six years in a row, he put in eight hours of daily basketball practice!
He accomplished it! His jersey, number 35, has been a top seller in the NBA playoffs for almost a decade. There was a mad dash for shirts featuring the number 35 and the name Kevin Durant from fans all across the globe.
Despite their prosperity, they remain humble and compassionate.
“I am able to motivate others through basketball.”
Kevin Durant has gone from being a boy who lost everything to becoming an inspiration to every underprivileged child in the world. With his present family, he is enjoying a full and happy life. But Kevin Durant still can’t let go of the bad old days.
Now that KD has reached a high level of professional accomplishment, he devotes most of his time to giving back. Helping the homeless, constructing basketball courts in underprivileged communities, and ensuring that youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds have access to education are all ways his charity fund makes a difference.
