Manchester United’s former goalkeeper, David de Gea, is venturing into the world of eSports with the establishment of his own team called Rebels Gaming. The team initially announced its participation in popular games like League of Legends, Valorant, and Rainbow Six Siege.
Rebels Gaming aims to extend its reach beyond gaming competitions. The team plans to support streamers and content creators by providing financial assistance. Additionally, Rebels Gaming will have its dedicated training facility located in Valdebebas, Madrid.
Expressing his excitement, David de Gea stated, “Starting Rebels Gaming and entering the eSports industry is a dream come true for me. This project aims to inspire and engage young enthusiasts, echoing the passion that has accompanied me since the early days of my football career.”
Rebels Gaming has disclosed that a team of eSports experts will be involved in the project, although specific details about the team members remain undisclosed.
David de Gea follows in the footsteps of fellow footballers like Jesse Lingard, who initiated JLINGZ Esports, and Sergio Agüero, the former Manchester City striker turned Kru Esports player, marking a growing trend of footballers venturing into the eSports domain.
