“I can tell you with absolute certainty that we were the chip winners that year,” Davis stated. “The Golden State was just too tiny. One of us could be left unprotected by Draymond. We shared a special bond as cousins. All the time, that’s on my mind.

Anthony Davis Is Looking To Make Up For Lost Chances In 2018There was a lot of backlash to the DeMarcus Cousins deal because some people didn’t think an athletic center like Cousins could complement an explosive forward like Anthony Davis, who also need room to operate inside. The Pelicans had trouble settling into a rhythm at the beginning of the season, but Davis and Boogue ultimately found their groove, and the team went on a strong run. During that season, Cousins averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game, while Davis had one of his best streaks to date with 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Although DeMarcus Cousins’s health may have altered the course of events for the Pelicans and Anthony Davis’s relationship, we will never know what the two could have achieved had they spent more time together. Well, that was then, and this is now—what Davis can accomplish, whatever grim the future may seem.

Even though Davis is back in Los Angeles this season with another star-studded squad, they aren’t quite living up to fans’ expectations. Whether or not Davis, at 30 years old, can lead the Lakers into a new era is an open question. Even though LeBron is clearly superior to Cousins, Cousins could not have much longer to play with. Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers are holding out hope that Davis has grown as a player and can be the seasoned veteran who brings financial success to the team.
