In their Wednesday night game against the Brooklyn Nets, the Boston Celtics were nearly flawless on both sides of the court. And as a result, the C’s thrashed the Nets and won handily, 136-86. Kristaps Porzingis’ ankle was the only aspect of the Green Team’s performance that went wrong.During the first half, Boston’s top center unintentionally trodden on Nets wing Cam Johnson’s foot. Although Porzingis’s error didn’t warrant his immediate removal from the game, he played no minutes in the last two quarters. Due to a lower back strain, Porzingis missed Boston’s 118-110 victory over the Nets on Tuesday. As reported by Celtics Wire writer Cameron Tabatabaie, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla stated that sitting Porzingis during Brooklyn’s thrashing was more of a precaution than anything else. Mazzulla stated of Porzingis’ situation, “He’s good.” “He assured me he was alright.” Kristaps Porzingis only managed to play 16 minutes, but in that time, he already had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 block. Throughout the second half, the Celtics were completely dominating the Nets and didn’t require his assistance. While Celtics guard Payton Pritchard scored 28 points in just 31 minutes off the bench, Brooklyn mustered a pitiful 32 points in the first 24 minutes.Guard Derrick White got things started in front of Pritchard and finished with an outstanding 27 points, five rebounds, and four assists. With the bench scoring a scorching 57 points and Boston’s starting five playing well together, Brooklyn had little hope of halting the season sweep. As we approach the All-Star break, Boston’s overall record of 43-12 is good enough to tie for the best in the NBA. Porzingis and company will need to make the most of the week off to recuperate if they are to continue winning. Naturally, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown of the Celtics will have a hectic schedule because they are both playing in the Indianapolis All-Star Game in 2024.
