LeBron James is thinking about his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and his impending retirement. The 39-year-old potential Hall of Famer, who is participating in and initiating his 20th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, expressed his desire for significant upgrades from his Lakers in a tweet that included an hourglass emoji, but it was later refuted in public. However, once the guard passed waivers after the trade deadline, the Lakers did sign former Nets star Spencer Dinwiddie. James would receive $51.4 million the following season if he were to opt out of his deal this summer. He has contributed to the Lakers’ 30-26 record with 26 games remaining; nonetheless, they are only ninth in the Western Conference and will enter the Play-In Tournament.Before Sunday’s game, James told reporters he wasn’t sure what his future held. James and his, for the time being at least, Lakers will travel to the Bay Area on February 22 to play the Golden State Warriors after the All-Star break. Six of the previous seven games have been won by the Lakers. James would also need another 132 points to achieve the milestone of 40,000 career regular-season points.
