Rasmus Hojlund’s childhood letter reveals his lifelong dream of playing for Manchester United

The latest footballer to fulfill his childhood dream of playing for Manchester United is Rasmus Hojlund. The £72 million striker for the Red Devils has the evidence to support his claim. At the age of 10, Hojlund wrote a statement outlining his two football goals for a school project. Both goals have now materialized in less than ten years, marking a significant victory for the determined Danish player.

Ten years ago, Hojlund wrote, “My goal is to play for the Danish national team and for Manchester United.” He then read the letter to TV2 Sport. With his first of six senior caps earned in September, part one of his dream became a reality. Furthermore, despite last-minute interest from PSG, Manchester United successfully resisted and completed his signing from Atalanta last Thursday, fulfilling the second part of the goal.

According to Hojlund, it all boils down to having big dreams and the courage to pursue them. Without these qualities, one cannot succeed in their objectives. “It’s uncommon to get everything in one package, but with me and Manchester United, I’d say everything has just come together. It is the ideal match,” Hojlund expressed. “The club is currently undergoing a process, and I would dearly love to be a part of it. This is also the reason I made the decision to move here at this time; I believe I can develop with the team, and with any luck, we can win many trophies together.”

The striker, born in Copenhagen, also shared a photo of himself as a young student wearing United shirts alongside his younger brothers Emil and Oscar. While his siblings wore red shirts, he wore black shirts. He recalled being “very small” when he first became devoted to United. “I think that Rasmus at ten would probably be ‘buzzing,’ as they say over here in England,” added Holland, continuing, “I’ve pursued that because he set himself a goal.”

However, Holland will miss United’s opening two games due to a preseason injury sustained while playing for Atalanta.
