Paul Pierce of the Celtics responds to the Udonis Haslem feud

Players’ careers rarely last as long as the rivalry in the league, especially when such players are on opposing clubs. The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics have experienced this. Even in non-basketball situations, the two teams still engage in intense on-court sparring and make fun of one another. One of these feuds involves Paul Pierce and Udonis Haslem, the former player of Pat Riley.A little over a month ago, the two got into another argument. They began arguing when Paul Pierce asked why Udonis Haslem’s jersey was retired on the Heat rafters. The legacy of the Celtics continued by responding to remarks made on The Dan LeBatard Show regarding his feud with Haslem.

I’m trying to recall when he told me that, to start with, as I don’t recall ever hearing that. Secondly, I don’t recall any hard screens, hard fouls, or s— talking during our game against Miami when Udonis Haslem was playing, Pierce remarked.

Celtics-Heat rivalry dating back a long wayWhen these two players were at their best, the Heat and Celtics first faced each other. Haslem and Dwyane Wade lacked the strength to weather the green storm. After five games, they were out of the series. Since then, the Celtics have won two postseason best-of-seven series, while Pat Riley and the Heat have won three.

Pierce doesn’t believe that their present feud is a result of anything that occurred throughout their careers. Rather, he suggests that this might be something else.I’m starting to hear this hostility now that we’re retired and working to stop our podcast. That’s great; I realize I irritate people, but I’ve always respected Miami and I never liked them. If you need extra space in a grocery store, that’s great too. I’d rather do it in a phone booth,” he said.

Haslem has always been a little irritated with the Celtics. When the icon passed away, he chastised the entire league for having to retire Bill Russell’s jersey in their rafters. Furthermore, he exhibits aggression when discussing the 17-time NBA Champions. Disagreement can become embedded in characters, causing them to last beyond professional careers.
