On Wednesday, LeBron James needed a comeback against the Los Angeles Clippers, but when you’re dominating Father Time like he is, that’s not much.
The Los Angeles Lakers great pulled off the biggest comeback of his 21-season career, stunning his team’s crosstown rivals with a d𝔯𝔞matic 116-112 victory. He did so by leading a 21-point comeback in the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, James scored 19 points with five 3-pointers and four assists.
He scored 19 points compared to 16 for the Clippers. It was a blowout when those assists were included.
The Clippers, who were missing All-Star Paul George, started the game with a 98-77 lead before playing dreadfully on defense. The squad continued to soft-switch and suffered the consequences, seemingly indifferent to losing simple matchups to James.
On Monday, the Clippers unveiled their new appearance; however, on Wednesday, it was nothing new. Though the team has an 11-7 record versus James since he joined the Lakers, it has now suffered three consecutive losses against him, all of which have involved comebacks. It threw away leads of nine points in January and 19 points in November.
That’s not exactly how you want to leave your co-tenancy at Crypto.com Arena. For the remainder of the regular season, the Lakers and Clippers are not scheduled to play. Wednesday’s game versus the Lakers in the arena will be the Clippers’ final “home” game before they move to the new Intuit Dome for the upcoming season, assuming they do not face each other in the postseason.
