LeBron James is one game away from reaching another historic milestone.
Coming into Thursday night’s game against the Wizards, the Lakers superstar was 40 points shy of achieving 40,000 points in his NBA career. In a three-point overtime triumph, James ended with 31 points, nine assists, and four rebounds, bringing him within 10 points of the record.
James, who averages more than 25 points per game this season, has not scored less than 10 points in a regular-season game since 2007. With that in mind, he’s nearly guaranteed to hit 40,000 points the next time he steps on the floor. LA’s next game is on Saturday, March 2, at 8:30 p.m. ET against the defending champion Nuggets.
