Sofyan Amrabat Makes Memorable Visit to Old Trafford, Experiencing the Iconic Stadium for the First Time

Sofyan Amrabat, Manchester United’s recent midfield signing, has suffered an injury that has led to his withdrawal from the Moroccan national team squad. Consequently, he will be unable to participate in Morocco’s international fixtures scheduled for September. Head coach Walid Regragui, on deadline day, selected Yahya Jabrane as a replacement for Amrabat, who will now return to training at Carrington following his season-long loan move from Fiorentina.

Amrabat’s arrival at Manchester United saw him reunite with his former coach at Utrecht, Erik ten Hag, who oversaw his development from 2015 to 2017. While Morocco had already secured their place in the Africa Cup of Nations competition in January, they have a final qualifying match against Liberia on Saturday. Morocco is currently in the semi-finals for the 2022 World Cup.

A draw in the upcoming match in Agadir would allow South Africa to win Group K and secure their spot in the championship match. Following that, Morocco is scheduled to play a friendly match against Burkina Faso, another African nation, on Tuesday in the French city of Lens.

Amrabat was looking forward to earning his 50th cap for the national team this month, having established himself as a key member of the squad. The midfielder, who previously played for Feyenoord and Club Brugge, made his World Cup debut in 2017 and played a vital role as Morocco became the first team from Africa to reach the round of 16 in the tournament held in Qatar.

Despite his absence from international duty, Amrabat’s focus will now be on recovering from his injury and making a positive impact for Manchester United once he returns to full fitness.
