Owen Hargreaves, a sports expert for TNT, says that Real Madrid’s “world class” players can change games “in the blink of an eye.” Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, and Toni Kroos scored the goal that put Real Madrid ahead of RB Leipzig, even though Bellingham, a former England player, called them “bαng average” during the last 16 match. Hargreaves said, “It’s really cool.”
Madrid hung on, though, and made it to the last eight. Hargreaves praised the goal that made the difference in the end.
He told TNT Sports, “It’s a world-class goal from three world-class players.”
“First, Toni Kroos, then Jude Bellingham (who set up the goal), and then the finish, the weight of the pass—everything was top-notch.”
“Real Madrid played about average in both games, but it’s really special to have world-class players like that who can decide a game in the blink of an eye.”
The end-to-end play began when Kroos picked off a pass on the edge of the Madrid box and sent it to Bellingham, who ran up the field through the middle.
Vinicius cut in from the left side and scored after Bellingham sent a perfectly weighted pass into the box. Vinicius scored first time past Peter Gulacsi.
“That goal has a lot of little parts,” Hargreaves said. “I believe Carlo Ancelotti is up to the task. There were times he knew they would get, and they did.
Leipzig had 20 shots on goal during the game, while Madrid only had 11. Leipzig had most of the action in front of Madrid’s box.
They finally scored, but not before Madrid took the lead. But Peter Crouch thinks Marco Rose’s team could have eliminated the 14-time Champions if they had played their best.
“It was what they deserved,” Crouch said on TNT Sports as he talked about Orban’s equalizer.
I think a lot of the Leipzig players were really upset after the game because they knew they had chances to beαt Real Madrid over the course of the two matches.
They just didn’t take them, which is too bad.
