With his high-scoring guard having the kind of season he is, the coach of the Sacramento Kings would benefit from a thesaurus.

The Kings resumed their dominance of the Los Angeles Lakers with a 130-120 victory Wednesday night, as Fox tied a career best with 44 points. Fox now has 40 points or more in seven games this season, enough for fourth most in the NBA.

What a remarkable man. According to Brown, “that’s who he is,” hence she despises using the term. It’s not easy to score 44 points in a single game, especially at the % he did, but he certainly has the capacity to do it. For him, it was a major event in a major setting.

With 26 points from Malik Monk and 16 boards, 20 assists, and a triple-double from Domantas Sabonis (his 22nd of the season and fourth in seven games), the Kings extended their winning streak over the Lakers to four games, dating back to last season.

With a record of 35-26, Sacramento is still in seventh place in the Western Conference, and they have won six of their previous seven games against its Pacific Division foe. If they finish sixth, the Kings will avoid the play-in tournament because they are only half a game behind Phoenix.

In addition to his 29 points, Rui Hachimura added 14 boards and 11 assists for Anthony Davis.

The Lakers (34-30) missed an opportunity to move up in the conference standings and ended up in tenth place.

Despite holding a 22-point lead late in the third quarter, Sacramento was able to lose 113-109 to Chicago on Monday, the third game in a row.

The Kings trailed by 19 points after one quarter, as if Monday’s defeat had not yet left their minds. At halftime, Sacramento led Los Angeles 72–57, thanks in large part to a 44–20 second quarter.

“We were getting deflections and getting out in transition which was huge for us in the second quarter,” said Fox. “We scored 44 points, but I think a lot of that was because of the way that we were playing defensively.”

The Lakers took a 37-18 lead with 1:52 left in the first quarter thanks to a 3-pointer by D’Angelo Russell; however, the Kings began to mount a comeback shortly after.

Ten consecutive points were scored by Sacramento at the end of the first twelve minutes. Before going on a 32-9 run to end the half, the Kings were behind 48-40.

The Kings began their run with a string of ten consecutive points. Mitchell made a 3-pointer in the middle of the quarter to level the score at 48, and Trey Lyles scored the game-winning slam.

For the last 7 minutes and 32 seconds of the first half, Sacramento shot 13 for 14 from the floor, including 6 three-pointers. Mitchell, Fox, and Monk all scored nine points.

In transition, they had a couple easy chances, and once inside, they made several difficult shots. According to Lakers coach Darvin Ham, the team must be able to keep that level of urgency. We discuss the possibility of imposing our will on the game. It was clearly our idea to start it, but we failed miserably in maintaining and completing it.

The Kings built a 22-point lead near the end of the third quarter, but the Lakers went on a 15-5 run to end the period.

However, the Lakers were unable to score in the low digits at any point.
