On personal Instagram, Amad Diallo has hidden all posts about Manchester United. On account X (Twitter), the Ivory Coast player also updated his biography: “Everything will end.” Diallo’s move made MU fans curious, especially in the context of the player born in 2002 constantly having to sit on the bench recently.
After shining in the Sunderland shirt last season and receiving the “Black Cats” Best Young Player award, Amad returned to Old Trafford with the expectation of taking a place in the main team. However, the former Atalanta player suddenly suffered a knee injury and had to miss most of the 2023/24 season.
When he recovered from his injury, Amad did not have the trust of coach Erik ten Hag. After 28 rounds, he was able to play for only 46 minutes. Currently, the contract worth 21.3 million euros is only the third choice for the right wing position, after Alejandro Garnacho and Antony.
Amad was recruited by MU under coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with great expectations. However, the former Atalanta star’s mark so far is only his header against Milan in the Europa League 2020/21. After that, Amad was continuously sent out on loan at Rangers and Sunderland.
During the transfer window earlier this year, a number of clubs in the English First Division announced that they wanted to borrow Amad. However, the 22-year-old player refused in the hope of playing at MU. Given the current situation, Amad will likely think about leaving Old Trafford after the 2023/24 season. According to Transfermarkt, Amad is valued at about 18 million euros.
