Kuminga and Thompson help the Warriors come back and beαt the Spurs 112-102, even though Wembanyama made a strong comeback
Klay Thompson scored 20 points and Jonathan Kuminga scored 21 for the Golden State Warriors, who beαt the San Antonio Spurs 112-102 on Monday night after getting off to a slow start.
Victor Wembanyama, a rookie for San Antonio, had 27 points and 14 rebounds in his first game back after missing one because he sprained his right ankle in the first half of Tuesday’s loss in Houston.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said he doesn’t know if Wembanyama will play on Tuesday against Houston.
Devon Vassell scored 17 points, and Keldon Johnson scored 16 for the Spurs.
Warriors rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 13 points and grabbed 10 boards. In the last minute, he did a one-handed dunk over Wembanyama that knocked the 7-foot-4 rookie from San Antonio to the ground.
Thompson went back to the starting group since Stephen Curry was still out. Thompson made only 8 out of 21 shots from the field, including only 4 out of 10 three-pointers.
Even though the Spurs beαt the Warriors 126–113 on Saturday without Wembanyama and Vassell, they couldn’t keep up a balanced game when they got their top two scorers back.
After getting 34 assists on Saturday, San Antonio only had 27.

With 37 seconds left in the first quarter, Johnson made a 3-pointer that gave San Antonio a 36-25 lead. To keep the gap manageable, Chris Paul scored eight points in the last 2:40.
