The next round of the Champions League would be against Manchester City, who is probably the best team in the world.
It was time to start making a statement. The away game against Osasuna gave the team a great chance to play their best, so they put new Moroccan international Brahim Díaz in the attαck.
Ferland Mendy kept starting at left back, and Eduardo Camavinga kept enjoying his spot in the middle of the field. Not a single Castilla player was called up to the team, which was the first time in a while that the bench was so thin. The team was led by Dani Carvajal.
It was very exciting in the first ten minutes. Real Madrid quickly took the lead through Vinícius Júnior after a mistake. Just as quickly, Osasuna tied the game with a flash shot that caught Andriy Lunin off guard. Inside of one minute, Vinícius had a great chance to score again, but he failed to make the most of his close range. Dani Carvajal scored again right away after Fede Valverde set him up. This time, Madrid had the lead again. There were a few rough challenges, but that was it for chances. Lunin had to step up again to keep his team ahead at halftime.
Things moved more slowly to begin the second half, but they still picked up pretty quickly. Brahim Díaz scored another great goal, this time extending the lead by hitting the bottom corner inside the area. Like the rest of the game, Madrid scored again almost right away after the last goal, this time Vinícius adding to his tally with a precise shot past the goalie. Even though Rodrygo Goes did a good job of making room for himself in the box, he missed the chance to join the party. They got one back with not much time left, making the score 2-4 at the end of the game. This is not a score that Real Madrid may be very happy of. How did the game make you feel?
