After Sunday’s draw, Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City team have finally learned their fate in the Emirates FA Cup last four this season.
On Saturday night, Manchester City defeated Newcastle United 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium to earn their most recent trip to Wembley Stadium, making them the first team to go to the FA Cup semi-finals in six consecutive seasons.
Pep Guardiola’s team took an insurmountable lead thanks to two deflected goals from Bernardo Silva in the first half. Manchester City defeated Newcastle for the third time this season and is now attempting to hold onto the record treble from the previous campaign.
Next month, City, who defeated Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup Final the previous season, will play at Wembley Stadium in an attempt to win a third FA Cup trophy under manager Pep Guardiola.
In addition to their quarterfinal win against Newcastle on Saturday night, Manchester City has won the FA Cup this season over Huddersfield Town, Tottenham, and Luton Town.
Due to City’s FA Cup run to the semifinals, the Blues’ Premier League matchup against Tottenham next month has been postponed. They also need to reschedule a match against Brighton.
After Riyad Mahrez scored three goals in the semifinals against Sheffield United in the previous season, Manchester City defeated the team, and on Sunday afternoon, the FA Cup semi-final opponents were revealed.
The Emirates FA Cup semi-final match between City and Chelsea will take place at Wembley Stadium in north London on Saturday, April 20, or Sunday, April 21.
In the event that Guardiola’s team defeats Chelsea, they will play either Manchester United or Coventry City in the Saturday, May 25, 2024, FA Cup Final.
